Old West Antiques announces the sale of another...

Old West Antiques has sold another Consigned item. This time it's a set of nearly 400 Antique Swastika Poker Chips along with a very fine wooden case to house them in and 9 wooden boxes.

Even though Dale Seymour, author of Antique Gambling Chips, chose to call this particular designed chip the "Swastika" chip, the symbol on the chip has nothing to do with the Nazi's.

The symbol on the chips comes from Native American's and represents " Good Luck" and thus the reason for the symbol on the chip(s).

If it's Old West we have a ready made market waiting to buy your item(s). Could mean more money in your pocket now rather than later.

... another Consignor joins Old West Antiques

This time it's long time collector of Winchesters and Colts, Dale Peterson who has joined the family. Dale has been at this a long time and recently decided to shed some of his collection in order to better focus on his main interests.

When collecting firearms one always seems to fine great buys of related items and that causes the focus to become a bit fuzzy. It is tough to pass up items you know are good buys that are some how related to your main interest(s). We collectors know this all to well and struggle daily to avoid the temptation.

That's where Old West Antiques comes in. We can help you sell those fringe items you have managed to collect over the years and put some cash back in your pockets. Most of the consignors tell me they are turning around and using the extra cash to purchase more or better items for their collection.

If it's Old West we have a ready made market waiting to buy your item(s). Could mean more money in your pocket now rather than later.

Long time (Big Time) collector Bob Jeche decided to sell off a portion of his massive collection in order to better focus on his main interest, Antique Knives.

Well know across the country in the knife collecting community, Bob also has side collections of antique gambling equipment and antique toys.

Bob contacted Old West Antiques for help in selling his gambling collection. Since the very first item was listed his items have been selling like hotcakes.

Returning customers often ask, when will you be posting more of Bob's stuff. The answer is, just as soon as he decides to sell more.

Consignor joins the Old West Antiques Family

Way back on May 22, 2005 Old West Antiques established it's Internet presence. Shortly after that a call went out to people who were looking to sell their Cowboy Collectibles, Old West Antiques and Western Memorabilia.

The first person to answer that call was a young man by the name of Nick Narog. Nick joined the Old West Antiques family in the fall of 2006.

His small but very impressive collection included a post card picture of Bob Ford's tent saloon. The place were Ford was gunned down for the murder of Jesse James. Also in the collection was a picture of Jim Younger, brother of Cole Younger and a note with signature from John Wesley Harden. The most impressive item in the collection was a certified signature of Jesse James.

Nick will always hold the distinction of becoming the first consignor at Old West Antiques but not the last. Many others have followed his lead. So keep in mind that Old West Antiques would love to talk to you about listing your items.

Kepplinger Holdout & Other Cheating Devices

Gamblers and those who ran gambling houses in the Old West used a host of methods from marked cards to gaffed devises to separate gamblers from their money.

One of the most ingenious devises was the Kepplinger Holdout (also one of the most sought after by collectors). P. J. Kepplinger, a gambler from San Francisco, invented the device which consisted of wires, pulleys, metal rods, metal slides, flexible tubes and clamps. This devise worked well, to well once greed took over. Kepplinger's fellow gamblers figured something was up when he won hand after hand. The other gamblers finally had all they could take and jumped Kepplinger looking for his "cheating device". What they found amazed them. Instead of giving Kepplinger the usual cheater rough-up they convinced him to make each one of them a holdout and as they say, The Rest is History!
